Alaska Farms for Sale

If you purchase an Alaska farm for agricultural purposes, your consumer base will probably be within the state, as few agricultural goods export from Alaska. With that said, it is possible to grow carrots, potatoes, cabbage and lettuce in Alaska.

Since parts of Alaska are consistently in the sun, these crops can actually grow quite successfully in the summer months. However, the long winters tend to limit production.

Other Opportunities With Alaska Farms for Sale

Alaska farms can also provide good opportunities for hunting and fishing, as a good-sized plot in Alaska may have considerable numbers of elk, moose and other wildlife roaming on it. Alaska is famous for seafood and finding good fishing is rarely a problem. Mountains and rivers may also surround Alaska farms, and may be desirable purely for their natural beauty.

Finding Alaska Farms for Sale

You can find many Alaska farms in the Anchorage area, in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The Valley is over 20,000 square miles, located just north of Anchorage around the Matanuska and Susitna rivers. These rivers are also great for salmon fishing.

Other farm-buying opportunities may be available on the Kenai Peninsula. The Kenai Peninsula is south of Anchorage. In fact, it is on the southern coast of the state.

The Kenai Peninsula has multiple lakes and rivers, including the Kenai River, the Russian River and the Kasilof River. There is also abundant hiking, fishing, hunting and farming opportunities.
