Alaskan Anchorage

Aug 27,2008

Set on the coast of the south central region of Alaska, Anchorage is an active city surrounded by the splendor and magnificence of the Alaskan rugged wild. Anchorage is a unique blend of contemporary living and natural beauty. It's completely modern and connected closely to the mainland, but still far enough away to be considered a remote destination.

Anchorage, Alaska

Anchorage, which is technically a city-borough, is the most populated city in Alaska. Over 40 percent of Alaska’s residents live in Anchorage, giving it a colorful flavor on the shores of the Cook Inlet.

The Chugach Mountains, which form an eastern boundary, loom over the city. North of Anchorage is Matanuska-Susitna Borough, or Mat-Su Valley, a “bedroom community” with farms and land separate from Anchorage proper.

Aside from all the outdoor recreational activities at your fingertips, such as ice-skating, fishing, camping and hiking, Anchorage residents get to enjoy the best Alaska has to offer. The city is home to a performing arts center where concerts, shows and cultural events take place.

Several professional minor league hockey teams play in the winter. Festivals in and around Anchorage take place at different times during the year, such as the Sitka Summer Music Festival.

Land and Acreage in Anchorage

The best news about Anchorage is there are plenty of land, acreage, homes and other real estate properties propped up against a breathtaking background of snow-capped mountains and fresh-scented alpines. Whether you want a sprawling mansion on the outskirts of the city, a custom-built lakefront cabin or a quaint home by the ocean, there is no limit to the kind of home you can dream up in such a superbly beautiful setting.

Of course, if you are truly serious about buying Alaskan land or real estate, it is wise to take the trip up there. With so many great activities to participate in, like skiing and snowboarding, sledding, kayaking, hunting and horseback riding, you may even forget the real reason you came to the state!
