Area Acres

Aug 28,2008

A house does not necessarily determine the cost of land, as you can tear it down and build a new one. Instead, land is the primary determinant in the cost of real estate. You have creative freedom to do what you like with the edifice itself.

Residential Property and Acres

The acres you purchase should have enough space for a residential home. If you want more acres, you can probably find land in an area that has an additional land.

Check the surrounding area before purchasing acres. Where is the nearest road? Is there a source of water and power? Ask these questions before buying land. Otherwise, the land will only be good for cultivating crops, if that, since the land cannot sustain a residential home.

Vacation Areas and Acres for Sale

A recreation home may need more space than a residential property, depending on the area. Chances are, if you looking at acres in a ski resort area, you may be limited to a cabin for the wintertime. However, something with more space, such as a lakefront property, means you can buy several acres.

This way, you can enjoy boating, kayaking and fishing, along with other activities. You will want to be able to fish or hunt on your own property, so you may have to buy extra acres in the area to build a single-family home or larger.

Ranch Properties and Acreage

Those looking for ranch properties will need more space. Ranching requires grazing land for livestock and horses. You need to find a property with plenty of acreage to fill out the area.

More than five acres is difficult to come by on the East Coast, but plentiful in western and southwestern regions that were once huge ranching states, such as Utah, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Buying acres the right way includes knowing what you will use the area for and figuring out how much you will need.
