Area of an Acre

Aug 28,2008

If you are interested in buying land, chances are you have already browsed for properties. You will find that many properties are expansive, sprawling out over hundreds of acres.

Other areas are only a few acres, perfect for a recreational home. For those who want a small bit of land, without paying for a full acre, an area of an acre is the perfect fit.

What Is an Area of an Acre?

An area of an acre is a tiny portion of an acre, usually suitable for a single-family home. An acre is around 44,000 square feet, and a typical single-family house ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet. You can compare the difference between having all that land versus a portion of the land.

Most small plots of land are half an acre or less. Some plots are nearly an acre at 0.9 acres, while others are just 0.3 acres.

In any case, the things you have to consider with an area of an acre are location and what you intend to do with the land. You cannot use it for ranching and it will end up as a very small plot if you want to hunt, camp or fish on it. Think about the uses for this land and make sure it is all you need before you decide you’re only going to use a half-acre lot or less.

Buying Small Areas of Land Acres

Many plots of land come in acres, so you will have to search for land marked as a portion of a full acre, as with the examples above. The obvious benefit of buying just a portion of an acre is the cost, with a full acre of land costing more than just a small part of it.

Another advantage of buying raw land means that you can build your own home on it. A custom built dream home allows you to live in exactly what you want. Though the land may be less than an acre, you still feel as though you have plenty of space. Look around to get some great prices on half-acre lots today.
