Uinta Mountains

Located at the junction of Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, the Uinta Mountains offer wonderful recreation to residents of all three states. As a subrange of the Rocky Mountains, the Uintas are the largest range in the lower 48, running from east to west, pushing well above 13,000 ft. at their highest points.

Easily accessible from southwestern Wyoming, the Uinta range begins near the popular Flaming Gorge Recreation Area and Reservoir. Traveling south, the Uinta Mountains explode into the horizon and offer a myriad of activities throughout all four Wyoming seasons. From back-county skiing and snowboarding in the winter and early spring to incredible hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, camping and horseback riding in the "sunny" months, the Uinta Mountains offer a little bit of everything to those who love the outdoors.

Uinta Mountains Land


Though you aren't going to lay claim to Kings Peak, there is a lot of ranch land available in the southwest region of Wyoming, putting you a quick hop from the Uinta Mountains. As the land begins to rise toward the Uinta Mountain foothills, you'll find some great opportunities for land development or investment.

Near the city of Evanston, Wyoming, for example, you can find large acreages perfect for your dream ranch or potential profit investment. From this area, you'll enjoy easy access to the Uinta Mountains and Salt Lake City. Look forward to plenty of good times to at the Flaming Gorge Recreation Area, whether you prefer to fish the waters or explore the area on motorcycle or ATV.

Uinta Mountains Hunting And Fishing


Rivers surround the Uinta Mountains. The Green River, running through southwestern Wyoming, offers the recreational waters to the Flaming Gorge Reservoir, making it one of the United States best locations for fishing. When you consider tributaries and large bodies of water, you know there will also be small and large game nearby, perfect for hunting.

Though hunting and fishing in some parts of the Uinta Mountains will require you to have multiple state licenses, the Wyoming game and Fish Department handles the great hunting in Wyoming. From Big Horn Sheep and Mountain Lion to turkey and grouse, Wyoming offers incredible hunting in the Uinta Mountains region.
